11:35 p.m. Competitors and staff broke for lunch

***

The second F4 U.S. testing session started after lunch at 1:05 p.m. All 29 cars participated, however, Baltazar Leguizamon of Buenos Aires, Argentina, first lap time was assigned not classified. Exiting the pits, Leguizamon was penalized for a blending line violation. He was required to complete a drive through restart, but due to multiple red flags, Leguizamon was unable to turn timed laps. On Lap 7 during Session 2, Jonathan Scarallo of Smithtown, New York, caused a red flag after experiencing an uncontested off course excursion. Scarallo was extracted from the track and the session resumed. Another red flag was thrown shortly after when Davis Durrett of Carmel, Indiana, lost control of his No. 10 car going into Turn 2, hitting the tire barrier. Due to extensive clean-up, F4 U.S. officials called the practice three minutes early. Soler-Obel, Jacob Loomis of Corinth, Texas, and Raphael Foricer of Montreal turned the most laps at 9. Kirkwood set fast lap at 1:23.566.

4:00 p.m. Tech inspections end. All cars passed tech with only minor infractions issued.

***

Qualifying was delayed 10 minutes due to a wreck from the IMSA session before. Scarallo and Durrett were held for five minutes at the start of the session in the penalty box as a reprimand for causing red flags in the second practice session. Drivers were turning faster and faster times each lap. Dickerson clocked the fastest lap of the day with a 1:22.601 before Lawson Nagel of Fort Worth, Texas, hit the tire wall in T2, causing a red flag. Track officials stopped the qualifying clock to clean up the damages and all remaining drivers retired to the pits. The clock was reinstated with 10 minutes remaining. Nagel did not return. On the last lap, Austin McCusker of Glen Head, New York, shot-up in standings from P8 to P2, turning the only other lap in the 1:22s. Dickerson’s fast time before the red flag was never broken. He was awarded the Cameron Das Fast Qualifier Award presented by Pro-Sim and will start on pole for Race 1 on Saturday.

Quotes from Practice and Qualifying Results

Raphael Forcier, Indy Motorsport Group- Today was the first time I got to race in front of my Canadian fans, family and supporters. It was a great feeling. CTMP is a tough track with several elevation changes. It took me about five laps to really get used to it. I am really looking forward to competing tomorrow and conquering Turn 2.

Dakota Dickerson, Kiwi Motorsport- I had a really fun day at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park with the F4 U.S. Championship. Kiwi Motorsport gave me an awesome car all day. I can’t thank Ryan from RJB Motorsports and Mealloid Corporation enough for making this all happen. Also, a big thank you to all the series sponsors for putting together a great championship.

Blake Mount, JDX Racing- We struggled with mechanical issues most of the day, falling behind every session. However, our eyes are up and we will be working into the night to get caught up. My goal for tomorrow is to get some good lap times in Race 1 to move up on the grid for Race 2.

Austin McCusker, Primus Racing- We took P2 on the last lap of qualifying. This is the first time this season that I'll start from the first row. I am really excited about that. I want to thank Primus Racing for the giving me a great set-up today. The car was extremely fast.
