Cooper Shipman Will Lead the Field to Green at Mid-Ohio

LEXINGTON, Ohio (June 20, 2025) – Cooper Shipman has been the class of the field so far in Formula 4 United States Championship (F4 U.S.) competition. Leading both practice sessions yesterday, Shipman (No. 14 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F422) had high hopes of securing the Race 1 Pole during Saturday morning’s qualifying session. With that goal in mind, the Kiwi Motorsports driver set a new FR Americas qualifying record with a 1:24.491 lap. 

MLT Motorsports driver, Alex Popow (No. 55 Dr. Michael Thompson MS DDS PPLS / MLT Motorsports Ligier JS F422), will line up second on the grid after posting a lap just 0.186 seconds off of Shipman’s pace. Kekai Hauanio (No. 29 N-E-Where Transport / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F422), Caleb Campbell (No. 68 Kids Help Phone / Camtacc Properties / Legacy Foundation of Canada / LC Racing Academy Ligier JS F422) and Demitri Nolan (No. 5 Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F422) will round out today’s top-five starters.

While Shipman was quickest in both practice sessions, Hauanio ranked second during first practice, just 0.083 seconds off the pace. In Practice 2, Campbell was second fastest, trailing Shipman by only 0.251 seconds.
