Brazilian Kiko Porto Closes F4 U.S. Season Satisfied with Results and Already Awaiting for 2019

Staying in the top-10 on the last stage of the Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda season has given extra spirits to  Kiko Porto of Sao Paulo, Brazil, (Petromega / BF / DE Force Racing / Speed Group), who this weekend competed in the F4 U.S. season finale at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, on the same track where the 18th stage of the Formula 1 World Championship competed. For the Brazilian pilot, besides being closer to the top motorsport category in the world, it was an opportunity to improve performance in F4 U.S. in which he made his debut this year. Even without knowing the track, Porto showed that the adaptation and work done onboard with the DEForce Racing car was successful and now, he's waiting for 2019.

For the last two stages, only a free practice was scheduled and soon after the training, qualifying would define the starting grid. Even with little contact with the tracks, Porto ensured an 11th place start for Race 1. However, two penalties forced the DEForce Racing rookie to start 19th. With determination, Porto ended Race 1 in 13th place.

In the season finale, Porto started 15th.In a consistent test, Porto gained five positions, crossing the finishing line in 10th place. The outstanding comeback scored Porto one point in the championship standings, adding five points total to his season championship tally.

"In the United States, we have far more experienced pilots than me, who know the tracks well," Porto said. "I think that what we achieved a really good result in these few stages. I’m already awaiting the 2019 stages and for next year’s season. I want to reach it with the conditions for fighting for victories."
