SANTIAGO / LEXINGTON / OHIO / UNITED STATES / June 12, 2026 – Chilean driver Clemente Huerta (Velox USA) is set for a tight battle for the top spots on the starting grid this Saturday morning. He secured a place among the four fastest drivers during official practice at the Mid-Ohio track—the venue for Round 3 of the Formula 4 United States Championship (F4 U.S.)—finishing within half a second of the leader.
The Chilean driver was 0.420 seconds off the pace set by South African Zach Fourie, who clocked a time of 1:24.716 for the 3,633-meter lap. Uruguayan Gastón Irazú posted the second-fastest time, 0.053 seconds behind the South African, while Canadian Cole Medeiros took third, 0.358 seconds off the fastest lap.
In both Saturday morning's qualifying session and Saturday afternoon's Race 1, Huerta will face experienced rivals—drivers who started in Ligier Junior Formula Championship, as well as others who have competed in formula cars in Europe and Japan.
Having already completed two rounds at the NOLA Motorsports and Road America circuits, Huerta finished fifth in both events; despite facing setbacks, he managed to complete four of the five races held so far.
Although rain threatened Friday's proceedings, the weather remained cloudy with temperatures ranging from 20 to 26 degrees Celsius. Clear skies and temperatures reaching 29 degrees are expected for Saturday, allowing for faster speeds as competitors vie for a podium spot in Race 1, which starts at 15:40 (local and Chile time). The second race is scheduled for Sunday at 10:35 AM. The action at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course can be followed via social media and the official timing platforms of FR Americas and the F4 U.S. Championship at the following address: www.f4uschampionship.com
