FR Americas, F4 U.S. and Ligier JS F4 Series Unveil 2024 Schedule

Championships Offer Participants Marquee Events and Valuable Scholarships

CHARLOTTE (October 3, 2023) – Anticipation is building for the upcoming race season as Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas), Formula 4 United States Championship (F4 U.S.) and the newly-rebranded Ligier JS F4 Series announced their 2024 schedules today.

With new races at marquee tracks, an international event, scholarship opportunities and the debut of a new chassis in F4 U.S., the season is shaping up to be one of the most exciting years in recent memory. The 2024 schedule will feature eight different venues across the three series, with FR Americas competing at seven tracks, F4 U.S. at six, and the Ligier JS F4 Series (previously known as “SpeedTour Formula Development”) on five circuits.

“2024 is going to be another year of growth for FR Americas, F4 U.S. and the Ligier JS F4 Series,” said Race Director Scott Goodyear. “FR Americas drivers will have the opportunity to race at some of the same venues as their F1 racing heroes with the addition of Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on the 2024 schedule. On the F4 U.S. side, we’ll be debuting the second-generation Ligier F4 car with Ligier Storm power. With the debut of that car, the Ligier JS F4 Series will become more than just a developmental series; utilizing the first generation F4 car, it will offer an alternative series with a lower price point. Each series delivers great value compared to other series in North America, offering impressive wheel-to-wheel competition and a superb training ground for young drivers.”

All three series launch the 2024 season together at NOLA Motorsports Park. From there, it’s off to Wisconsin’s famed Road America with all three championships in tow. Then, in a standalone weekend, FR Americas will race across the iconic yard of bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Hankook tires before rejoining both F4 U.S. and the Ligier JS F4 Series at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course the following weekend. All three championships will return to New Jersey Motorsports Park—the site of some of the closest finishes in championship history.

FR Americas and F4 U.S. will cross the border to race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park located just outside of Toronto. Then, the Ligier JS F4 Series, F4 U.S. and FR Americas will join together for the season-finale championship weekend, culminating with the year-end awards giving, at Circuit of The Americas.

With F4 U.S. and FR Americas devised as the initial steps on the Road to F1, the newly-rebranded Ligier JS F4 Series will strengthen the current ladder system while providing another avenue for drivers to race single-seater cars. When the FIA-certified F4 U.S. Championship transitions to the new Ligier JS F422 chassis and Ligier Storm power in 2024, the Ligier JS F4 Series will provide teams and drivers that own the existing chassis with a place to compete. Open to drivers 14 years old and older, the series also offers an additional development opportunity for drivers moving up from karts to single-seater racecars until they meet the age requirements of F4 U.S. competition.

Keeping the ladder system in mind, the 2024 scholarship program is designed to assist champions in their career trajectory, providing opportunities to achieve the next step in their racing career.

The 2024 Ligier JS F4 Series Driver Champion will win a scholarship to compete in F4 U.S. the following season with the use of a JS F422 chassis and engine from Ligier, two sets of tires per event from Hankook and race entry fees from Parella Motorsports Holdings (PMH); the prize is valued at $133,600. Meanwhile, the 2024 F4 U.S. Driver Champion will be provided with a scholarship to compete in the 2025 season of FR Americas competition, including the use of a JS F3 chassis and engine from Ligier, two sets of tires per event from Hankook, and race entry fees from PMH for a total value of $212,000. The FR Americas Driver Champion will also be awarded a scholarship to assist in the next step of their career; details on that program are forthcoming.
