JHDD Leaves VIR with F4 Point Lead and Chance at Title with Lochie Hughes

October 12, 2022 – It was the penultimate event weekend in the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda as the Jay Howard Driver Development (JHDD) team left the famed Virginia International Raceway with the point lead. Newly signed 2023 competitor Lochie Hughes earned himself a pair of podium results in rounds 14 and 15 to salvage valuable championship points after the weekend's opening race was difficult.

"We continue to lead the championship with one weekend left,” explained JHDD’s Jay Howard. “We will be focused on continuing to execute and try to secure the title, it won't be easy and will most likely come down to the final race of the season, but I have 100% confidence in Lochie to get the job done."

With five drivers competing in the nearly 20-car field and points being awarded to only the top-ten in each race, all five Jay Howard Driver Development drivers earned at least one top-ten result and championship points. Lochie Hughes led the way with a pair of podium finishes while Louka St-Jean and Seth Brown garnered points that currently seed them 11th and 12th in the championship table. With a trio of good races at the upcoming Circuit of the Americas event weekend, both St-jean and Brown can move forward and finish in the top-ten for the season.

Rookie drivers Michael Boyiadzis and Al Morey also earned their first F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda points of the season. With both drivers taking to the grid beginning at round seven at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Michael and Al have begun to hit their stride and will look for additional points at the season finale in November.

Howard added, “We are already back at the shop preparing for the finale weekend in our hopes to not only win the title but have three drivers finish in the top-ten of the series points.”

While the 2022 season is nearly complete, JHDD is looking into 2023. With seats available in the F4 United States Championship, interested parties are asked to contact Jay Howard via email to Jay@JayHoward.com.

With the final 2022 F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda event not taking place until the November 3-6 weekend at the Circuit of the Americas, Jay Howard Driver Development will take part in the Road to Indy Fall Combine at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway October 22-23.
