WEST COAST NEWS: WILL DELAROSA MAKES HIS MARK AT THUNDERHILL IN FORMULA PRO USA F4

The 2020 Formula Pro USA Western Championships Presented by Exclusive Racing took the green flag this past weekend under the dark cloud of the Covid-19 virus. With entry numbers rocketing up from previous years, the first event of 2020 would see a drastic decrease in participants the week of the Rounds 1 & 2 when California state officials insisted the general population forgo organized group events.

“It was very disappointing for us and our program as the growth from year-to-year for the Winter Series and now for our Regular Season was exponential,” explained Exclusive Racing’s Brent Morgan. “Our goal is to become the ‘Go-To’ or the ‘Official’ feeder series to the national campaigns and our hard work has been paying off. While the Governor of California recommended that organized events did not happen, our program was already on site and underway, so the decision was made to push on. Though we lost a large number of drivers due to the fears of the Coronavirus and the state recommended shutdown, the growth of the Formula Pro USA Western Championships is exciting and the coming together of teams in a family style affair provides momentum for the future.”

Formula Pro USA Western Championships Presented by Exclusive Racing frontrunner and Margraf Racing driver Will Delarosa vowed to challenge for the championship in 2020 and started his season off right. Taking both the round one and two victories, as well as the pole positions for both events, Delarosa put his name firmly atop the championship points battle as he aims to solidify the 2021 F4 Honda engine lease from Honda Racing / HPD.

Black Sheep Racing driver Spencer Bucknum kept Delarosa true all weekend long as he was able to push the eventual race winner in the wheel-to-wheel competition. Showing great speed throughout the weekend, Bucknum claimed a pair of second place podium finishes to solidify his challenge towards the overall series title. Entering Sicheng Li for his 2020 campaign, Dave Freitas Racing is another big-name team to enter the Formula Pro USA Western Championships Presented by Exclusive Racing program. Li went on to claim a pair of podium results finishing third on both Saturday and Sunday as the two days of podium results remained unchanged.

In the FR side of the Formula Pro USA Western Championships Presented by Exclusive Racing it was all Jay Horak. Claiming the Vice Championship in the Winter Series, Horak kicked off his summer campaign with a pair of wins.

Morgan continued, “We understand that the nation is in crisis, and we are coming together with our teams to see how we can all work together and keep their businesses profitable. With organized events greater than fifty attendees now banned, we are searching for alternatives on what, where and how to do things during these difficult times. Stay tuned for future announcements from Exclusive Racing as programs develop and plans are established for the remainder of 2020.”
