Simpson And Yeany Show Speed for Velocity Racing Development at F4 West Coast Winter Series

Simpson shows race craft beyond his experience while Yeany stands on podium

Kicking off their 2020 season, Velocity Racing Development showed speed and progression this past weekend during the opening rounds of the Formula Pro USA F4 West Coast presented by Exclusive Racing Winter Series. Traveling from coast-to-coast to continue their driver development program at Auto Club Speedway, Kyffin Simpson showed speed and race craft beyond his experience in a car while Hunter Yeany claimed fast laps and a pair of podium results.

"I am really happy and impressed with both of these young rookie drivers," explained Dan Mitchell. "Kyffin drove incredibly well and battled with 2019 race winners and podium finishers going toe-to-toe with them, all while gaining experience. Hunter proved his outright speed as the two complimented one another perfectly. I can't wait to continue on through the rest of the season."

After qualifying eighth in the Exclusive Racing F4 class and finishing sixth in race one, the highlight of Simpson's race weekend came from race two.

Mitchell added, "The results do not represent Kyffin's drive. He looked like a veteran as he and two other national level competitors, with much more experience than him, raced hard all race long. Making multiple passes in an intense battle, Kyffin proved that he will not back down and will be a threat for podium results in 2020."

Hunter Yeany turned his sixth place qualifying effort into a pair of podium results. Driving forward in race one, Yeany scored the fastest lap of the race as well as most positions gained for a total of four extra bonus points to his championship hope. Sunday saw much of the same for the young gun as Yeany pushed his VRD prepared Ligier JS F4 to the limits to stand on the podium for the second time in as many days.

Mitchell continued, "Quick turnaround for us as we will be back on track at Buttonwillow Raceway Park tomorrow and Wednesday for testing as we continue to build both the knowledge and experience of these two rookie drivers."

Stay tuned for more announcements from Velocity Racing Development later this week.
