Jose Blanco Fastest iin Practice

A chilly 30 degree morning set the perfect stage for Jose Blanco to take the fastest time of the session with a flyer of 2:16.211-seconds during the Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda practice on Friday at Circuit of the Americas. As his Hankook Tires got to temperature, Blanco gained speed lap after lap, edging out his teammate and F4 U.S. champion elect Joshua Car and returning top CoTA contender Kory Enders.

"We showed good pace today during practice," said Blanco. "The track conditions will be a bit different this afternoon, but our goal is to carry that pace over from practice. We are challenging for a top-three finish in the championship, so every position matters to maximize points this weekend."

In the all green 30-minute practice, 36 drivers took to the challenging 20-turn, 3.47-mile circuit. Just 25 hundredths of a second off Blanco's pace, Enders finished the session with the second fastest time  (2:16.461-seconds). Car was close behind the Austin-native, setting his best lap of 2:16.516-seconds midway through practice. In close pursuit, Reese Gold and Kiko Porto rounded out the top 5 times.

The fleet of F4 U.S. drivers return to the same track as their F1 idols for an abbreviated 20-minute qualifying session starting at 5:00pm CT. Follow live updates on Twitter @F4Championship
