Porto Returns to the Podium in Fight for Vice Championship

After securing third place in Race 1 at Sebring International Raceway, Brazilian Kiko Porto (Petromega / Miami Home Design / BF / DEForce Racing / Speed Group) returned to the podium in Race 3 on Sunday.

With a third, seventh and second place respectively in the three F4 U.S. Championship Powered by Honda races of the weekend, Porto added 39 points to the leader board. But with a winning drive on Sunday, Australian Joshua Car reached 297 points to clinch the championship as there is only 50 points left in play for the season.

Porto starts for the two remaining races at F4 US, with the possibility of maintaining the runner-up in his first full season in the category.

“We have done our best to win the title, but now we will maintain that advantage we have over Christian so that we can get out of Austin with the necessary scoring that guarantees us the runner-up, which will be very important to me and my team,” said Porto after the final in Sebring.

The Brazilian rider heads to the last leg of the year with a 37-point lead over third-place American Christian Brooks. So he has to score 14 points in both Austin races to secure the runner-up in the 2019 season (not to depend on the American's results). The next round will be in the Formula 1 Preliminary, between Nov. 1-3 at the Circuit of the Americas track in Texas.
