Porto Fights for Title in F4 U.S.

Two of the three races planned for the weekend were played on Saturday at Sebring International Raceway in another round of Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda racing. Runner-up in the drivers' championship, Brazilian Kiko Porto (Petromega / Miami Home Design / BF / DEForce Racing / Speed Group) secured the front row with the second fastest time in the qualifying that defined the starting grid.

Porto's expectation was to take pole at Sebring, but the No. 12 DEForce Racing driver was forced to leave training before the end. "There wasn't much to do. The important thing was to get the car ready for both races on Saturday," Kiko said after leaving qualifying.

On Saturday, however, starting in the front row, Porto even without much time to hit the car and losing some performance, surpassed himself and secured another podium with a third place finish in Race 1.

“I'm happy with another podium at F4 US, my team (DEForce) worked hard to get the car in race condition so that I could secure this podium more. It was very important for our pretensions in the championship,” said Porto, who, due to the unexpected rain in Race 2, crossed the finish line in seventh position.

The weekend finale starts on Sunday. F4 US will have the last leg of the season in November, in the preliminary round of Formula 1.
