Group-A Racing Adds David Dalton Jr. For Sebring

After announcing series-newcomer Robert Torres last week, Group-A Racing is once again expanding its roster for the upcoming Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda event at Sebring International Raceway. David Dalton Jr., 21, will make his professional racing debut, supporting the classic red and yellow colors of Group-A Racing.

Hailing from Montclair, New Jersey, Dalton got a late start to racing compared to some of the other drivers within the F4 U.S. field. Beginning in karts last year, Dalton quickly made progress and moved into cars this year with Lucas Oil Formula Car Series. In his rookie year, Dalton currently sits second in points with a win and three additional podium finishes. With the goal of continuing up the racing ladder in 2020, Dalton will be getting his first taste of that with Group-A Racing, stepping into the F4 U.S. Championship.

“I am really happy to be having David with us, especially since he’s another Lucas Oil Formula Series driver moving up with our program, said team manager Jonathan Scarallo. It’s a great partnership that gives the drivers a clear path to move up and allows them to have familiar faces by their side as they do it. David has had a great rookie year this year and I am sure he will adapt well to the F4 machinery. Like most F4 events, Sebring has a lot of track time making it a good situation for him to get his first experience with us and at this level before moving up full time next year.”

Group-A Racing’s Driver Development Program partnered with the Lucas Oil School in 2016, plugging drivers into their schools and race series who require a bit more competition experience before jumping behind a wheel of an Ligier JS F4. The program provides specialized driver coaching, driver management, business development and several other teaching tools that will expedite a driver’s racing career.

While competing in the Lucas Oil Formula Car Series, Dalton received marketing coaching, motorsports business education, specialized sponsorship initiatives and driver development training. Now he will make the step up with the team for his professional debut.

“While competing in the Lucas Oil Formula Car Series, I couldn’t be anymore grateful to have an immediate contact into F4, like Jonathan” said David Dalton Jr. “Having talked to him numerous times about something like this at each Lucas Oil event I’ve attended is an honor in itself. For him to have the motivation to run Group A Racing, and to scout for aspiring racing drivers like myself - this opportunity to debut in Sebring, I couldn’t have dreamt of it happening so early-on in my career. Hce sees potential in me, and I see the potential in him; the team, and the car. I’m very optimistic
