Group-A Racing Adds Robert Torres For Remainder of 2019

Committing to another season of developing young talent and moving them up the racing ladder, Group-A Racing added another entry for the remainder of the Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda season. Robert Torres of Malvern, Pennsylvania, will join the New York-based team for the final two rounds in preparation for a full-season campaign in 2020.

Torres will make his professional racing debut in F4 during the Championship’s penultimate event at Sebring International Raceway Sept. 13-15. Following that, he will compete in the series finale at Circuit of the Americas during the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix in November.

“I am excited for Robert to finally be able to make his first start in F4 US” said Group-A Racing team manager Jonathan Scarallo. “He has been patient and working really hard both on and off track for this moment. He has a real deep desire to win and this will be a great chance for him to get a sample of the next level before running full time next year.”

Torres first joined Group-A Racing in the 2018 off season, testing with the team in the F4 machinery. From there, he joined the Group-A Racing Driver Development Program, receiving driver management and coaching to guide his career at each step. As part of the program, the young gun participated in the Lucas Oil Formula Car Series for additional competition development over the past two seasons.

“I’ve been working with Jonathan as a development driver in the Lucas Oil Formula Series for almost two years now, and in that time, thanks to his coaching and help with navigation of the racing world, I’ve been making good progress,” Torres said. “I am beyond excited to be dipping my toe into pro racing and competing in the last two F4 U.S. Championship races of 2019 with Group A Racing, and then racing the full season with them in 2020. I won’t hesitate to say I’m a bit nervous, but as with any move to the next level, they’re good nerves. I look forward to competing and learning all I can with them.”
