Dallas-area SCCA formula club racer makes jump to the pros

After two weekends of dominating performances, the championship-leading Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda team Crosslink/Kiwi Motorsport will expand its roster for Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, inking a deal with 16-year-old Liam C. Snyder. Coming from a long lineage of SCCA racers, the Dallas-based driver will make the move from SCCA club racer to SCCA Pro racer during the NASCAR Xfinity weekend Aug. 8-10.

“I am thrilled to join one of the most competitive Pro Racing Series in the United States, and I eagerly anticipate an exciting race with Crosslink/Kiwi Motorsport,” said Snyder. “It is great to be joining such an amazing team that is local to my area. After days of testing I can be sure that I along with the car will be competitive for the top spot on the podium.”

Before entering the Mid-Ohio weekend, Snyder completed several days of testing in the metallic red and black No. 27 CR3 Partners Ligier JS F4 machine with the team to prepare for the race.

“We are very excited to have Liam join us for Mid-Ohio,” said Kiwi Motorsport Team Principal Garry Orton. “He is very hungry for success and this showed when we tested him three weeks ago. Being based in Dallas it is great to have a local driver in our car.”

Snyder started racing karts at nine years old in Texas. He moved into open wheel racing two years ago, competing in Formula Mazda and placing fifth in the SCCA National Championship Runoffs at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway his rookie season. In 2018, Snyder was the FE2 Championship Runner Up in Sonoma at the SCCA Runoffs. This year the Dallas-native racked up five poles and seven wins in FE2.
