Kiko Porto Gets One More Podium in F4 U.S. to Fight Still in Hunt for Championship

Virginia International Raceway was the weekend to hit the throttle for Rounds 7-9  of the 2019 Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda season. The Virginia International Raceway circuit in the city of Alton, Virginia, welcomed the riders for another triple round of competition. Brazilian Kiko Porto (Petromega / Miami Home Design / BF / DEForce Racing / Speed Group), who fights for the title in his first full season, was once again one of the main characters of the category, placing third in first race of the weekend and thus ensured the podium presence again.

On Saturday (07/27), Porto started in seventh position on the grid and in a spectacular race, recovered and took the podium in third place. “It was a pity the yellow flag, because we were doing well and with a chance to get the second place. But that's fine, me and my team secured another podium of the season, thank God”, commented Kiko Porto right after the race.

This Sunday (07/28) Porto returned to the Virginia International Raceway for the 8th and 9th round. In Sunday's first race the Pernambuco’s rider got a good fourth place that kept him scoring points and in the fight for the title of the season. In the next race, however, after two drivers spun in front of him, collected Porto on the way which ended his race day.  Even so, he is 134 points (unofficial) and in the runner-up in the drivers’ championship.

The next F4 U.S. race is scheduled for two weeks from now in August 8-10 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.

“We continue to fight well for the title of the season. It's time to forget about the problems we had here and thank God and my DEForce team for getting points that keep us alive in the championship. The gap for Joshua has widened, but let's try to get that difference in Lexington, God willing”, concluded Kiko
