Dante Yu Joins Crosslink/kiwi Motorsport

Top-Ranked Karter Makes Move to Formula Cars

Fresh off a podium result at the SuperKarts! USA Pro Tour opening round, Dante Yu of Temple City, California, advances his racing career into single-seater competition, debuting in the fourth season of the Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda with reigning team champions Crosslink/Kiwi Motorsport.  The championship-winning karter joins a loaded Crosslink/Kiwi Motorsport roster of F4 veterans, who also had powerful karting beginnings.

“I cannot be more excited than to race for Crosslink/Kiwi Motorsport,” said Yu, who is the third ranked karting driver in North America. “The team has a winning record, a competitive set up, and a team and crew that made me feel immediately welcomed and supported. With the team's support, I am confident in fighting for the championship.”

Yu found success in karting both stateside and abroad, competing at the top-levels of the sport. He was selected for the Richard Mille Academy in France in 2018, burgeoning his formula racing career. The 16-year-old driver’s impressive racing career, commitment, adaptive learning and speed drew Crosslink/Kiwi Motorsport to offer Yu its inaugural karts-to-cars scholarship.

“Helping move Dante from karts to cars is something that Teena and I, along with Dante’s Management team, have been working on for eight months,” Kiwi Motorsport co-owner Garry Orton said. “I am super excited he is joining Arthur Leist, Jose Blanco and Joshua Car for what is going to be an incredibly strong drivers’ lineup in a very competitive championship.”

Having previously won championships and races for COMPKART, Yu will continue his role as a factory driver for the manufacturer in both the SKUSA! Pro Tour as well as the Rotax Stars & Stripes events.

“I am grateful to be able to continue my karting pursuits and relationship with the COMPKART team, while taking on my first formula championship,” Yu said.

Launched in 2016, F4 U.S. was created to offer young race car drivers, like Yu, the opportunity to take their first step from karting into the world of open-wheel racing. Designed to be globally recognized yet an affordable step between karting and F3, the Ligier JS F4 car was constructed to keep costs down while providing an ideal learning tool for young drivers who have never raced cars before. The series offers more value and benefits than any other form of entry-level open-wheel racing at a low cost. As an FIA-supported championship, the top-seven drivers at the end of the season will earn Super License Points to aid in their racing career advancement.
