Alliance Racing Sponsored by Gas Monkey Energy Kicks Off 2019 Season at Formula Pro USA Western Championship's F4 Winter Series Season Opener

Three Gas Monkey Energy branded drivers head to California to kick off 2019 season

With the weather barely reaching the freezing mark in Indiana, Indianapolis-based Alliance Racing Sponsored by Gas Monkey Energy is heading west to kick off its 2019 season. Traditionally, teams and drivers head south to Florida or halfway across the country to Texas to complete some testing, but Alliance Racing is taking its drivers to the West Coast to take part in some wheel-to-wheel competition.

Traveling to Sonoma Raceway, Will Edwards, Ryan Macdermid and Dylan Tavella will take on the Formula Pro USA Western Championship's F4 Winter Series. Competing in the two weekend, four race format, these three F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda drivers will begin their preparation for the 2019 season different than most other teams and drivers.

"My team and I put our heads together to come up with the very best plan to prepare our drivers for the 2019 season," explained Alliance Racing Owner Toney Edwards. "Everyone can go do laps, test and do qualifying simulations but our plan is different. Our drivers will actually compete wheel-to-wheel. They will have qualifying sessions as well as additional race start experience before the start of the national season. Yes, it is a long drive and the trips are filled with expenses, but I am confident that it is the best decision to better the skills and experience of our Gas Monkey Energy drivers."

Edwards, Macdermid and Tavella will be thrown directly in the mix upon their arrival in Sonoma as two complete race days will take place Jan. 13-14.. The third and fourth rounds of the Formula Pro USA program will take place at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, during the first weekend of February.

"The idea of our approach is to put our drivers in race situations," explained Alliance Racing Engineer Nathan Toney. "While in this environment, drivers will run through race days, changing track and weather conditions, running both new and used tires as well as learn proper and effective communication with both the crew and myself as the Engineer. I am looking forward to getting our cars on track in just a few days."

Before their departure, the Alliance Racing Sponsored by Gas Monkey Energy machines were completely rewrapped to incorporate the Gas Monkey Energy logos and branding.

Edwards added, "The season is now upon us and it is time to get to work both on and off the track!"
