Kiko Porto Scores First Points in F4 U.S. Debut at Pittsburgh

Brazilian driver Kiko Porto (Petromega / BF / DE Force Racing / Speed Group) made his season debut inthe Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda at Pittsburgh International Race Complex Aug. 3-5. A debut, moreover, crowned with good results, finishing in the top-10 in all three rounds with two 10th place finishes

Starting in the middle of the 30-car grid, the Brazilian driver had a lot of work in F4 U.S. opening. In the classification training he got the 12th place to start Round 10. In the race he started very well, gaining two positions, but an accident with another pilot in the 5th lap forced the test direction to authorize the entrance of the safety car, which went like this until the end. This only ensured the 10th position of the race for Porto, marking his first point of the weekend.

The starting grid of the subsequent races is defined by the times of the best laps of the previous race. Thus, the Brazilian started at 13th place in the race valid for Round 11. Very focused and without making mistakes, he managed to take the car to the 9th position, securing an additional 2 points in the ranking.

In the last race of the weekend, Porto started12th and once again did a good job inside the cockpit, taking the No. 23 car to the 9th place at the end. In total, Porto scored five points right at his first participation in the championship.

"I think it was even better than I expected," said Porto. "After all, it was my first official race here in the United States, on a track I don’t usually run. So I'm very happy with the weekend’s result. I just wanted to thank the staff, my family and everyone who helped me get here. God willing, we'll get better next time."

The Brazilian's next appointment in the F4 U.S. is scheduled for next month at  New Jersey Motorsport Park in the town of Millville Sept. 14-16.
