2025’s Penultimate Round
Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas) and Formula 4 United States Championship (F4 U.S.) join Ligier Junior Formula Championship (Ligier JFC) for their penultimate round of the 2025 season at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) this weekend. Returning to the 3.27-mile facility for the first time since 2023, all three championships will contest two races as the battle for the 2025 title heats up. In an action-packed SpeedTour weekend, they’ll join the Trans Am Series, Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA), International GT, Prototype Sprint Series Association and Ginetta Challenge for four days of non-stop racing action. Kids 12 and under are admitted free all weekend, while adult tickets are available now at SpeedTour.net.

Meet the Drivers of FR Americas, F4 U.S. and Ligier JFC
Drivers from FR Americas, F4 U.S. and Ligier JFC will host an autograph session on Saturday afternoon. Taking place in VIR’s North Paddock at the SpeedTour Sim Trailer, fans are invited out to collect autographs, take photos and meet the future stars of open-wheel racing.

The Road to F1 Starts Here
America’s Road to F1 continues to gain momentum as United States-based teams and drivers make significant strides toward motorsport’s highest level. With the Cadillac Formula 1 Team set to join the MoneyGram Haas F1 Team on the Formula 1 grid in 2026, the U.S. will soon be represented by two teams on the world stage. Further fueling the momentum, American Colton Herta has signed as a test driver for the Cadillac F1 Team and is rumored to be making the jump to Formula 2 this coming season. While so much of the spotlight is focused on the top tiers of the F1 ladder, the true Road to Formula 1 begins much earlier. F4 U.S. and FR Americas serve as critical first steps, where drivers as young as 15 begin their journey. Certified by the FIA, these series not only develop emerging talent, but also award the essential FIA Super License Points that are needed to progress toward a future in Formula 1.

Watch Live on SpeedTour.TV
Catch all the action from VIR live on SpeedTour.TV. Award-winning broadcaster Ralph Sheheen returns to the booth as lead announcer, joined by guest commentators from across all three championships. Viewers at home can watch by visiting SpeedTour.TV, or subscribing to the SpeedTour TV YouTube Channel.

In addition, SPEED SPORT 1 (SS1) will broadcast a special live block on Sunday afternoon as all three series contest Race 2. Coverage kicks off at 12:30 p.m. ET with the Trans Am Series, followed by Ligier JFC, F4 U.S., and FR Americas, in that order, beginning at 2:45 p.m. ET. SS1 is available worldwide on platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Roku, Pluto TV, Sling, STIRR and more.

FR Americas Championship

Championship Battle Tightens with $100k On The Line
With four rounds left on the 2025 schedule, just four points separate the top two in the FR Americas driver standings. Bruno Ribeiro (No. 01 Alfa Cem / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) narrowly holds his lead, after temporarily surrendering the top spot to Nicolas Ambiado (No. 55 Velox USA / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) in the midst of the CTMP race weekend. At 227 and 223 points respectively, the two have a slight advantage over third-place Titus Sherlock (No. 31 Rayne Nutrition / Ronald McDonald House Charities / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3), who left CTMP with 215.5 points after sweeping the weekend. Each with one win this season, Jett Bowling (No. 22 Bullhorn / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) and Brady Golan (No. 80 Attire / Toney Driver Development Ligier JS F3) both have a shot at finishing inside the top three in points, with Bowling 37.5 markers behind Sherlock, and Golan just 78.5 points out of third.

Wild Weekend Shakes Up Points at CTMP
The race weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) proved that the fight for the FR Americas championship is far from over. Despite leading the series with victories this season, Titus Sherlock (No. 31 Rayne Nutrition / Ronald McDonald House Charities / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3) entered the weekend as a longshot for the championship. However, a weekend hat trick put him right back in the fight, just 11.5 points behind the leader. Meanwhile, Bruno Ribeiro (No. 01 Alfa Cem / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) entered the weekend as the championship leader, but an incident in practice sidelined him for Race 1, allowing Nicolas Ambiado (No. 55 Velox USA / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) to briefly take the points lead. Then, a mechanical issue going into Race 3 had Ambiado barely making the starting grid and slowed his race pace to allow Ribeiro to once again take the lead. If the weekend at CTMP proved anything, this championship is still anyone’s to win—or lose.

Matriano Lim Back in Action
Landan Matriano Lim (No. 5 739 Racing / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3) returns to FR Americas to make his 2025 debut this weekend at VIR. An alum of both FR Americas and F4 U.S., Matriano Lim finished eighth in the FR Americas standings last season after accumulating 13 top 10s and five top-five finishes.

New Driver: Christian Brooks
Christian Brooks (No. 95 Toney Driver Development Ligier JS F3) will join Toney Driver Development as a third entry for the Brownsburg, Indiana-based organization at VIR. Brooks, a California native, started in RallyCross before switching to formula cars and racing in F4 U.S. in 2019. Winning two races that season—including one at VIR—he moved to USF2000 in 2020 and climbed all the way to INDY NXT by 2024. Primarily working as a driver coach this season, Brooks is excited to get back behind the wheel to make his FR Americas debut at VIR.

Barrett Wolfe Looks for Win
It’s been one year since Barrett Wolfe (No. 13 Make-A-Wish / Axiom Cyber / Cool.inc / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3) began his transition to the FR Americas car. With VIR not included on the championship’s schedule last season, Wolfe came to the Virginia track anyway—opting to run the Ligier JS F3 in one of SVRA’s run groups. Wolfe had some hard battles that weekend, but he was able to bring home his first victory in the FR Americas car. This weekend, he hopes to match that feat in an actual FR Americas race.

F4 U.S. Championship

Championship Clinch Possible at VIR
Entering VIR with a 47-point advantage, Cooper Shipman (No. 14 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F422) has the capability to clinch the 2025 F4 U.S. championship this weekend. With just four races remaining and a total of 100 points on the line, the 17 year old’s mission is simple—leave VIR with a 50-point margin and clinch the championship title, as well as the scholarship to compete in FR Americas next season. Second-place Kekai Hauanio (No. 29 N-E-Where Transport / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F422), however, isn’t going down without a fight. With three wins and 10 podiums this season, Hauanio is working hard to keep himself in the championship hunt. Behind him, Alex Popow (No. 55 Dr. Michael Thompson MS DDS PPLS / MLT Motorsports Ligier JS F422) is third in the standings, but Caleb Campbell (No. 68 Kids Help Phone / Camtacc Properties / Legacy Foundation of Canada / LC Racing Ligier JS F422), Clemente Huerta Raab (No. 17 Velox USA / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F422) and Demitri Nolan (No. 5 Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F422) all enter the VIR weekend with a mathematical chance at ultimately claiming that spot.

Shipman Chasing Records
Cooper Shipman (No. 14 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F422) had an unbelievable weekend at CTMP last month, sweeping his third event in a row and extending his win streak to seven races. With his seventh win, Shipman officially passed Kyle Kirkwood on the list for the second-longest win streak—now only ranking behind the 2016 F4 U.S. inaugural champion, Cameron Das. With Das at eight consecutive wins, Shipman could potentially break the record and set a new standard this weekend.

Huerta Raab Back in The Drivers Seat
Clemente Huerta Raab (No. 17 Velox USA / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F422) returns to the driver’s seat at VIR after missing the final CTMP round following an on-track incident in the closing laps of Race 2. Sustaining extensive damage to the car, Huerta Raab was sidelined from the final event of the weekend and fell just a half point behind Caleb Campbell (No. 68 Kids Help Phone / Camtacc Properties / Legacy Foundation of Canada / LC Racing Ligier JS F422) in the standings. This weekend, he looks to make that back up, and hopes to gain even more ground in the standings as the 2025 season nears completion.

Gen 1 Experience Meets the Gen 2 Ligier JS F4 Car
Racing at VIR for the first time since 2023 doesn’t mean that it’s a new track for all F4 U.S. competitors; albeit, it will be their first time taking on the 3.27-mile circuit in the Ligier JS F422. In 2023, Kekai Hauanio (No. 29 N-E-Where Transport / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F422) had a great weekend in F4 U.S. at VIR—using the first-generation Ligier JS F4 car. Recording his first two career podiums at the circuit, Hauanio consistently improved all weekend, going from finishing fifth to third to second, in the three rounds. That same weekend, Caleb Campbell (No. 68 Kids Help Phone / Camtacc Properties / Legacy Foundation of Canada / LC Racing Ligier JS F422), at just 14 years old, ran the Gen. 1 in SVRA, while Demitri Nolan (No. 5 Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F422) did the same thing last year.

Introducing Jonathan Cottrill, RASE Motorsports Returns
Jonathan Cottrill (No. 32 RASE Marketing Ligier JS F422) joins forces with RASE Motorsports, who returns to F4 U.S. for the first time since their podium finish at Road America in May. A graduate of the Radford Racing School Formula 4 School, Cottrill has raced both Formula Atlantics and the first-generation Ligier JS F4 in SCCA competition. Now making his F4 U.S. debut, the Colorado native is focused on graduating high school and starting his racing career.

Ligier Junior Formula Championship

The Fight for a Scholarship in F4 U.S.
It could all come down to VIR for Gastón Irazú (No. 42 Elia Group / Baly / Canal 4 / Ancap / Champagne Racing Ligier JS F4), who has the opportunity to lock in the Ligier JFC championship this weekend. With a 42-point lead and 100 points available in the final four races of 2025, Irazú simply needs to leave VIR with a 50-point advantage to secure the Driver’s Championship title and the scholarship to compete in F4 U.S. in 2025. A three-time winner this season, Drew Szuch (No. 28 Berg Racing Ligier JS F4) continues to sit second in points, while Daniel Cará (No. 10 Tenuta Foppa & Ambrosi Wines / WorkHub / Cará Origin Motorsports Ligier JS F4) is just a bit behind him in third. With three podiums in the last six races—including his first win—Cash Felber (No. 11 BioLongevity Labs / TownHall / Rebol / DWT / Matrix Mind Water / Phantom Fireworks / Champagne Racing Ligier JS F4) has climbed to fourth in the standings. Harbir Dass(No. 23 Northcoast Medical Group / Dubby Energy / Dass Psych LLC / Berg Racing Ligier JS F4), who is no stranger to VIR after having raced on the circuit with Spec MX-5 just last year, rounds out the top five in the standings.

Champagne Reigns
In their first full season of Ligier JFC competition, Champagne Racing became the first team to sweep a Ligier JFC race during the series’ most recent round at New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP). With Gastón Irazú (No. 42 Elia Group / Baly / Canal 4 / Ancap / Champagne Racing Ligier JS F4) winning, fans were seeing double as twin brothers Cash Felber (No. 11 BioLongevity Labs / TownHall / Rebol / DWT / Matrix Mind Water / Phantom Fireworks / Champagne Racing Ligier JS F4) and Roman Felber (No. 73 BioLongevity Labs / TownHall / Rebol / DWT / Matrix Mind Water / Phantom Fireworks / Champagne Racing Ligier JS F4) finished second and third to flank Irazú on the podium. Leading the Ligier JFC Team’s Points Championship standings, Champagne Racing has amassed six wins and 14 podiums this year.

Berg Racing Doubles Down
Berg Racing is doubling down at VIR, expanding from two to four cars for this weekend’s SpeedTour event. Series regulars Harbir Dass (No. 23 Northcoast Medical Group / Dubby Energy / Dass Psych LLC / Berg Racing Ligier JS F4) and Drew Szuch (No. 28 Berg Racing Ligier JS F4) will be joined by Alex Berg (No. 98 Atna Pharma Consulting / Rohde & Liesenfeld Inc / Easydrift Technologies Inc / Berg Racing Ligier JS F4) and Ronan Bray (No. 08 Allen Berg Racing Schools / Foxxr Digital Marketing / NXG Graphics / Berg Racing Ligier JS F4) to round out the four-car effort.

Berg is Back
Alex Berg (No. 98 Atna Pharma Consulting / Rohde & Liesenfeld Inc / Easydrift Technologies Inc / Berg Racing Ligier JS F4) will make his first-career Ligier JFC start, climbing behind the wheel for his family-owned team. No stranger to the Ligier JS F416, Berg raced the first-generation F4 car while it was the spec car for F4 U.S. back in 2022 and 2023. Recording one win and eight-career podiums across the two seasons, Berg then moved to British F4 for 2024, and spent this year racing in GB4 for Graham Brunton Racing.

Meet Ronan and Rohan
Two newcomers will be making their Ligier JFC debuts when the lights go out at VIR, as Ronan Bray (No. 08 Allen Berg Racing Schools / Foxxr Digital Marketing / NXG Graphics / Berg Racing Ligier JS F4) joins Berg Racing, and William Rohan (No. 34 Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F4) races under the Crosslink Motorsports banner. A native of Franklin, Tenn., 17-year-old Bray will be competing in his first race weekend after completing the Allen Berg Racing School and engaging in an extensive testing program with Berg Racing. Likewise, 16-year-old Rohan has been busy acquainting himself with the Ligier JS F422 with Crosslink Motorsports after earning his competition license and completing several weeks of testing.
