October 12, 2022 – It was a race-winning weekend for Noah Ping as the youngster from Buford, Georgia was able to win the third and final race of the weekend in the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda. Scoring a podium result in race one and a top-five finish in race two after being forced to come from the tail of the field, Noah capped the weekend off in style, celebrating his third win of the 2022 season.
After a qualifying effort that saw Noah Ping in the fifth position, the rookie returned to the track Saturday for the first of two wheel-to-wheel races with the goal of moving forward. Starting on the inside of row three, Ping would look to keep his championship hopes alive by driving to the front and scoring the win, or a podium result, to help gain valuable championship points.
“It was a good first race as I managed to move forward two positions and stand on the podium in third,” claimed Ping. “On the way, I scored the second fastest lap of the race, allowing me a front-row starting spot for race two and a better chance to fight for the win. It was a good point morning, and I am hoping we can do it again this afternoon.”
Race two would prove to be difficult at the start but rewarding in the end. After going for the lead on the opening lap and sliding off the race surface, a yellow flag would fly for Ping who was stuck just off the track. Able to get back on the surface with the help of the safety crew, Ping was able to rejoin the back of the field for the restart and began what could be classified as a career drive. Quickly disposing of drivers and moving into the top-ten, Ping was resetting fast lap after fast lap in his quest to move forward. Gaining additional positions as the race went on, Noah was able to drive his VRD Racing prepared machine to a P5 result, all while scoring the third fastest race lap, and the third starting position for race three.
Ping added, “Stupid mistake by me at the beginning of the race but after that, I had so much fun driving through the field. We proved that we once again had the speed by setting the fastest race lap until the final lap of the race, and I will look to reward the guys tomorrow with a win.”
Returning to the track Sunday for the final on-track session of the weekend, the third and final race saw Noah start from the third position and advantageous inside line on the run down to the first corner when the first two cars went off track in turn one. In a race that ended under yellow flag conditions, Ping was able to stay at the front and never look back. Adding to his season-long win total, Ping was able to bring himself back into the championship point battle.
Ping added, “You never want to see a race finish under caution but when you are at the front, you don’t mind it so much. Thanks to the VRD Racing guys for giving me a great car for all three races. We were able to get out to the lead early and the car’s speed is what won the race today.”
