The blue and black tiger stripes of Jacob Loomis’ No. 68 Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda car will sport a purple hue starting at Virginia International Raceway to raise awareness of Acute Myelogneous Leukemia (AML), an aggressive cancer that starts in bone marrow and spreads through the blood stream into other parts of the body.
The Global Racing Group rookie’s goal is to generate additional revenue for the Anna Brasher Foundation, a nonprofit funding research, treatment and support for affected families of AML.
“My family and I volunteer every year at the Anna Brashear Memorial Invitational and other Anna Brasher Foundation 
events in Denton, Texas,” said Loomis. “We wanted to take our involvement one step further this year to include their foundation on my F4 U.S. car to increase awareness. Our hope is to aid in finding a cure so no other family has to lose a child or loved one from this awful disease.”
Anna Brasher lived in Loomis’ community. She was diagnosed at eight years old with AML in October 2010 and passed from the disease the same month. Before her diagnosis, Brasher was a competitive gymnast. Since 2011, the Anna Brasher Memorial Invitational honors Brasher’s passion for gymnastics by inviting hundreds of gymnasts to compete. The funds raised from the event are donated to programs like Cook Children’s Leukemia & Lymphoma Program and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, supporting the fight against AML.
“I’ve been afforded an incredible opportunity to race on an international stage,” Loomis said. “It’s important that I use my opportunities to give back. Aiding in finding a cure for AML would not only help my community, but communities across the world.”
